The D-Link DES-1210 Switch Series includes next-generation Web Smart switches. Equipped with 24 or 48 10/100 Mbps ports, 2 10/100/1000 BASE-T ports and 2 10/100/1000 BASE-T/SFP combo ports, the switches in this series combine advanced management and security features for better performance and scalability. The easy-to-use DES-1210-08P/28P has built-in 10/100Mbps PoE ports and power-saving features such as scheduled PoE, which turns ports off at pre-set times. The DES-1210-28P's Smart Fan feature allows built-in fans to automatically turn on at a certain temperature, ensuring continuous, reliable and environmentally friendly operation of the switch. Compatible with 802.3af and 802.3at standards, the DES-1210-28P is capable of powering up to 30 watts per device. Management features include SNMP, Web-based management, SmartConsole utility and Compact Command Line for easy deployment. With its ease of use, the DES-1210 series switch provides a complete, low-cost solution for small and medium business (SMB) networks.
Flexible integration into your existing network Web Smart switches give small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) full control over their network. With Gigabit Ethernet copper ports providing connection over existing twisted-pair Category 5 cabling, these switches do not require abandoning existing infrastructure. The DES-1210 switches provide flexible connectivity to backbone networks or servers. In addition, all ports support automatic MDI/MDIX cross cable detection. This eliminates the need for cross cabling on the uplink ports and provides desktop connectivity.
Advanced Layer 2 features The DES-1210 switches support a number of Layer 2 features, including IGMP Snooping, MLD Snooping1 , Port Mirroring, Spanning Tree and Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP). IEEE 802.3x flow control allows servers to be directly connected to the switch for fast and reliable data transmission. Supporting 2000Mbps full-duplex speed, the switch provides high-speed data transfer to connect workstations with minimal loss. The switches feature cable diagnostics and Loopback Detection. Loopback Detection detects loops and automatically shuts down the port on which a loop is detected, thereby preventing network problems regardless of STP protocol operation. The Cable Diagnostics feature is designed to determine the quality of copper cabling as well as the type of cable fault.
Quality of Service (QoS), broadcast storm management. The DES-1210 series switches support Auto Surveillance VLAN (ASV) and Auto Voice VLAN for VoIP applications and video surveillance deployments. ASV ensures quality real-time video transmission for monitoring and control without transmitting data over a conventional network. DSCP marks Ethernet packets by assigning one or another level of service to network traffic. Bandwidth management feature allows network administrators to reserve bandwidth for different bandwidth-hungry applications or to ensure maximum priority.
Network security D-Link Safeguard Engine1 feature protects switches from malicious traffic caused by virus activity. 802.1X port-based authentication allows the use of an external RADIUS server for user authentication. In addition, the Access Control Lists (ACL) feature increases network security and helps protect the internal IT network. The DES-1210 Series supports ARP Spoofing1 attack prevention, which protects against Ethernet attacks that can cause traffic changes or delays by sending spurious ARP messages. For enhanced security, DHCP Server Screening1 is used to deny access to unauthorized DHCP servers.
Flexible management The next-generation Web Smart Switches give growing businesses simple and easy network management via the SmartConsole utility or via a Web interface that allows remote network management down to the ports. The SmartConsole utility allows users to discover multiple D-Link Web Smart switches on the same L2 network segment. Using this utility eliminates the need to change the IP address of the computer and provides easy initial setup of the Smart Switches. Switches belonging to the same network segment and connected to the user's local computer are displayed on the screen with immediate access. Advanced configuration settings and basic settings (password changes and software updates) of the detected devices are available.
