DGS-711

Description
D-Link Gigabit Interface Converters (GBIC) modules are transceivers for connecting Gigabit Ethernet switches or 10/100 Mbps switches equipped with a GBIC slot to Gigabit Ethernet networks. The GBIC modules provide a flexible and simple solution for high speed Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. Depending on the type of cable you are using, optical or copper, you can install the correct GBIC module in the switch. Optical transceivers are equipped with standard SC connectors for compatibility.
Hot-swappable
All D-Link GBIC modules are hot-swappable. You can remove or replace the GBIC module without turning off the switch. This feature allows you to add or change GBIC modules without having to shut down your network.
Standard Size of GBIC
Modules All modules described in this document are of standard size (D-Link SFP modules are described in a separate document). GBIC modules plug into a standard GBIC slot. They provide the necessary signal amplification for transmitting and receiving data when the port is connected to an optical or copper cable.
Application
Application of optical GBIC modules: distributed processing and storage of data, cascading of Gigabit Ethernet switches, high-speed writing and reading files, increasing the bandwidth of the network segment, increasing the distance of the data transmission channel.
