The DGS-1210-28X/ME switch is the ideal solution for use in Metro Ethernet networks. The switch is equipped with 24 10/100/1000Base-T ports and 4 10GBase-X SFP+ ports. Static electricity protection provides resistance to power surges, and a full set of security and authentication functions protects the network from internal and external threats. The devices support Auto Voice VLAN, providing maximum priority for "voice" traffic.
Fault tolerance/High performance The DGS-1210-28X/ME switch supports Spanning Tree (STP) protocols: 802.1D-2004 edition, 802.1w and 802.1s. STP protocols allow you to organize a backup data transfer route used in the event of a switch malfunction. The switch also supports 802.3ad Link Aggregation, which provides grouping of several ports and, as a result, increased bandwidth and increased fault tolerance of connections. This model supports the 802.1p standard for quality of service management (QoS), which allows you to classify traffic in real time into 8 queues using strict priority processing and Weighted Round Robin (WRR) mechanisms. Packet classification is based on TOS, DSCP, MAC, IPv4, VLAN ID, TCP/UDP port number, protocol type or packet content defined by the user, and provides flexible configuration for certain multimedia applications such as VoIP or IPTV.
Auto Voice VLAN The DGS-1210/ME series switches support Auto Voice VLAN. This functionality allows you to automatically recognize VoIP equipment in a common network and allocate it into separate VLANs, within each of which the highest service priority will be assigned to voice traffic. Auto Voice VLAN support ensures stable operation of VoIP applications and high-quality transmission of audio traffic regardless of the overall network load.
Security and authentication The DGS-1210-28X/ME switch supports port/node-based 802.1X access control, the ability to create a guest VLAN, as well as RADIUS/TACACS+ authentication for strict access control in the network. The IP-MAC-Port Binding function in D-Link switches allows you to control the access of computers to the network based on their IP and MAC addresses, as well as the connection port, thus expanding access control capabilities. The built-in D-Link Safeguard Engine™ function provides identification and prioritization of packets intended for processing by the switch processor in order to prevent malicious attacks that could interfere with the normal functioning of the switch. In addition, the Access Control Lists (ACLs) feature improves network security and performance.
Management functions The user-friendly Web interface provides ease of management, and automatic DHCP configuration provides advanced management functions, allowing administrators to set settings in advance and save them on the TFTP server. After that, individual switches can get IP addresses from the server and load predefined configuration parameters. The LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) protocol allows network equipment to notify the local network of its existence and characteristics, which helps to better manage the network topology. In addition, each port of the switch supports the cable diagnostics function, which helps to identify various malfunctions, for example, a mismatch in the length of the cable or its characteristics.
Traffic and bandwidth management The bandwidth management feature allows network administrators to determine the bandwidth for each port in increments of up to 64 Kbit/s for incoming traffic. The DGS-1210-28X/ME switch also supports broadcast storm protection, which minimizes the likelihood of virus attacks on the network. The port mirroring feature simplifies traffic diagnostics, and also helps administrators monitor the performance of the switch and change it if necessary. Support for IGMP Snooping allows you to reduce the volume of multicast traffic and optimize network performance.
Multicast The DGS-1210-28X/ME switch supports a full set of Layer 2 functions for multicast, including IGMP Snooping, IGMP filtering, Fast Leave and configuration for multicast traffic on certain ports. Thanks to the support of this functionality, the DGS-1210-28X/ME switch provides the opportunity to work with IPTV services that are in growing demand in the market. IGMP/MLD Host-based Snooping enables multiple multicast group clients to connect to a single network interface. When using the ISM VLAN function, multicast traffic is transmitted in a separate VLAN in order to efficiently consume bandwidth. ISM VLAN profiles allow users to quickly and easily assign/replace preset settings on multicast subscriber ports.
