DES-1100-16

The DES-1100 EasySmart series of switches incorporate a complete set of configurable features that provide better performance and scalability. The EasySmart line of switches includes the DES-1100-16 with 16 10/100 Mbps ports, the DES-1100-24 with 24 10/100 Mbps ports, and the DES-1100-26 with 24 10/100 Mbps ports and 2 Gigabit combo ports. The switches help users deploy a network quickly and easily with easy management using the SmartConsole utility or the Web interface. The DES-1100 series switch is a complete and cost-effective solution for small and medium business (SMB) networks. The DES-1100 is a suitable solution for enterprise network deployments such as branch offices and meeting rooms where simple management is required.

Management features include Web-based management and a SmartConsole utility. This switch series also supports a number of Layer 2 features, including Port Mirroring, Statistics, and IGMP Snooping, for reducing multicast traffic and improving network performance. All models feature innovative passive cooling and a compact metal chassis.

Power-saving efficiency.
The EasySmart series switches are more energy efficient than other models. The DES-1100-16 saves 27.32 percent more power and the DES-1100-24 saves 10.7 percent more power than a typical D-Link unconfigured switch. This allows for more economical operation of the device. It also allows the EasySmart switches to include fans and operate in quiet mode, as a result, the devices have a longer service life.

Fault tolerance/increased performance
The switches support a number of Layer 2 features, including IGMP Snooping and port mirroring. The series also includes support for Loopback Detection. Loopback Detection is used to detect loops and automatically shuts down the port when a loopback is detected. The DES-1100 series switches support the 802.1p (QoS) standard, which enables real-time traffic classification into 8 priority levels and 2 queues.

Network security
The DES-1100 series switches support 802.1Q VLANs and port-based VLANs. The bandwidth control feature allows network administrators to determine the bandwidth level for each port. The feature allows you to set inbound/outbound traffic limitation in increments of up to 512 kbps. The Storm Control feature is necessary to limit broadcast, multicast, or unknown unicast traffic if the set threshold is exceeded. The switch blocks or discards packets, a large number of which could lead to network congestion. Port mirroring helps administrators make it easy to diagnose traffic or monitor switch performance and modify if necessary.

Flexible management
EasySmart switches provide simple and easy network management via the SmartConsole utility or via a Web interface, providing remote management of the network at the port level. The SmartConsole utility allows users to discover multiple D-Link Web Smart switches in the same L2 network segment. Using this utility eliminates the need to change the IP address of the computer and provides easy initial setup of the Smart Switches. Switches belonging to the same network segment and connected to the user's local computer are displayed on the screen with immediate access. Advanced configuration settings and basic settings for detected devices, such as password changes and software updates, are available.
