Interactive whiteboards
A set of equipment for the interactive whiteboard:
  • an interactive whiteboard;
  • computer (possibly a laptop or an interactive tablet);
  • video projector;
  • switching and fixing equipment (connecting wires, projector and board fasteners, etc.).
Interactive whiteboard is a large touch screen, to work with which you can use special touch-sensitive markers, which can act as a touch of the human hand. Board is designed so that all the marks are placed over the text of the presentation or image, which is projected from the computer screen, are reflected in a text or image file. This makes it possible to save comments made during the presentation of a project, to emphasize an important idea right during the meeting, and then to analyze the past meeting in real time.

Types of interactive whiteboards on the principle of obtaining images
Active interactive whiteboards
Such a board is connected to a power source and a computer (laptop) by wires. The surface of the board includes special sensors that respond to the touch of a special stylus (marker) or hand.
Requires additional conditions (laying wiring, the allocation of stationary place, etc.), but provides stability and quality of information transmission (no risk of interference, as in the case of passive electronic whiteboards).
In active interactive whiteboards the following basic technologies are used:

Sensor
Such boards react directly to the touch (with a hand or a marker) and do not require specialized styluses. Good for classes in the field of education.
Passive interactive whiteboards
Unlike active boards, here the stylus itself is the medium for receiving information, and the board does not contain any receiving sensors. Such boards win in mobility and do not require special network connection points and commutation wires (information is transmitted from the pointer wirelessly).
Passive interactive whiteboards are convenient when it may be necessary to move the whiteboard from one room to another.

Among the new developments used in passive interactive whiteboards are the so-called "microdot technology". Here the board has an invisible to the eye breakdown into coordinate points. The control stylus has a kind of "minicamera", which reads the coordinates of the point in contact with the board and transmits it to the reading device (computer).
What should be guided by when selecting an interactive whiteboard?
When choosing an interactive whiteboard there are a few basic things to consider:
In what room (in terms of size) the interactive whiteboard will be installed. The image should be visible from any corner of the room
It is necessary to keep in mind the material which the device will be used to display. For example, if during the presentation of the material is necessary to use a lot of charts, it makes sense to choose a bigger board. For "text" material, a relatively small board may be enough.
