Simultaneous interpretation system
Equipment for simultaneous interpretation
The equipment for simultaneous interpretation is a system that includes a central unit - a signal source, and peripheral devices-receivers.
The central unit "distributes" the speech audio signal to the receivers of the event participants. It is a speech microphone with an amplifier and transmitter. Depending on the number of groups of foreign-language participants in the event, the central unit can be combined several translators.

Receiving units of the system are usually receivers with headphones. Usually there is also a channel selector on the receiver, which "translates" the participant of the event to the desired language channel.

Interpreters' workplaces are located in a special booth or in a separate room. They are equipped with an interpreter panel, which receives the signal from the central controller. The interpreter's desk is also equipped with a monitor that displays the speaker in close-up.

Wired and wireless simultaneous interpretation systems
  • In the case of a wired system, there are also two options. The first is the simultaneous interpretation system, which is an additional unit of the conference system. In this case, an additional interpreter unit is simply connected to the existing central unit of the conference system. The second option requires wiring to install a wired system. All wired versions have a high degree of reliability and signal quality.
  • Wireless versions of simultaneous interpretation systems use radio broadcasting. Such systems are always mobile and easy to install. However, they have two clear disadvantages - a less reliable channel of transmission (radio broadcast channel) and battery power receivers, which each time before the meeting must be charged. At the same time, the time of the meeting, to prevent unpleasant surprises, it is necessary to correlate with the capacity of the batteries.
